OUTLAWS-
“CARTER GIG FOR OUTLAWS”
THE SALINA JOURNAL
SALINA, KANSAS
JANUARY 16, 1977
Music’s going to be moving into the White House in a big way when President-elect Jimmy Carter takes office.
Musical guests of honor at the inaugural ceremony on Jan. 20 will be the Outlaws, one of Carter’s favorite bands. At first, it looked as though the Outlaws weren’t going to be able to make the ceremony as they’d already scheduled a European tour for that time, due to start after the completion of their latest album, “Hurry Sundown.”
Now it turns out that the Outlaws are going to be in the studios longer than planned and, just like Cinderella, they will make it to the ball. The album, by the way, promises to be worth waiting for. The group is working with noted Eagles’ producer Bill Szymcyk in his new studio in Miami. Bill is so pleased with the band that he says: “It’s like discovering oil in your own backyard!”
